  1. My 1st sewing machine was not electric.my gram showed me age 10 for the machine age 6 to sew by hand and crochet. Then came the machines with drop in a cam but they would get chipped and uh oh out of luck. I feel brothers or singer heavy duty is a good starter. I feel with those I can trouble shoot and fix if need be but with computerized machines you can’t fix it or add the belt of take it apart which I’ve done on my singer to maintain it. Computerized are fancy for decorating g embroidery etc but you can’t fix it and in my town there’s nowhere to take in any such machine.for beginners a used one like you said is good. Sometimes schools and the girls clubs would sell the, dirt cheap.but a Walmart cheap one with straight and zig zag is all you need as those will have a blind hem stitch and some feet great tips and thank you

  2. Cutting!!❤ I’m having problems with cutting I have that ruler board and a ruler, but I still cut all wonky. It just doesn’t turn out straight. Cutting is hard at the moment

  3. Help Jan with my state of mind. I love to sew and I’m 79 years old and I rush myself to get things finished because I try to get things done😮 just so if I die I don’t want to leave anything unfinished. I even go without sleep to accomplish more. Sick right.
